CLIENT NEWS: Burlington Arcade to Celebrate Mayfair Art Weekend

The Burlington Arcade (http://www.burlington-arcade.co.uk) is thrilled to celebrate Mayfair Art Weekend, with an installation by Mathilde Nivet and Beadle-led tours of the world’s oldest shopping destination.

What is Mayfair Art Weekend?

Mayfair Art Weekend (30 June- 2 July 2017), in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts, will present an extensive programme of exhibitions, events, talks and tours, bringing the cultural landscape of Mayfair to life. Mayfair Art Weekend celebrates the diverse offering of Mayfair as a vibrant hub of creativity and craftsmanship, where the worlds of art, fashion and luxury converge.

Over 60 businesses in Mayfair, which include hotels, auction houses, fashion brands and restaurants in Mayfair and St. James’s will open their door to the public, inviting culture seekers to explore the capital’s commercial galleries out of hours and engage with the world-class curatorial expertise on offer, through a series of special events.

Who is Mathilde Nivet?

The roster of special features at iconic Mayfair destinations includes the Mathilde Nivet installation of paper birds in The Burlington Arcade. A young and innovative French paper artist and set designer, Nivet has worked for a wide range of clients in fields such as jewellery, cosmetics, fashion, food and industry. Her style is a feminine, trendy and sometimes minimalist mix. Recently she has worked for Vogue Japan, Icon Magazine, Air France Madame, Be Magazine, Madame Figaro, Le Bon Marché, Tsumori Chisato, Guerlain, Chanel and Cartier.

Nivet will be installing her work from the 26th-28th June before the official launch event for Mayfair Art Weekend, a VIP reception at Hix on the 29th June. Public programming will commence on the 30th June. Press are welcome to book a visit to observe Nivet working and arrange for interviews.

About The Beadle Tours

On 29th June at 11:00am and again at 5:00pm, the world’s smallest and oldest police force will provide a guided tour of The Burlington Arcade exclusively for the press. The tour will feature history about The Arcade and engaging stories, anecdotes, little known facts, as well as more details about Nivet’s installation which will have been completed. Nivet’s installation will run 30th June-1 November.
