天际专访 | 随时准备好，因为你不知机遇何时来敲门 2015-07-06 邬银燕 天际英国投资置业公司 简介：Susan Fang （方琇怡），世界领先的跨文化教育咨询专家、思想领袖、APUK（Academic Powerhouse）的共同创始人及首席执行官。毕业自剑桥大学、北伦敦女子中学、苏富比学院。 曾在台湾顶级的商业杂志CommonWealth任记者；2003年，以排名第一的成绩获得英国文化协会教育顾部资格证（BritishCouncil Education Consultant Qualification）。她同时也是一位训练有素的英文翻译，曾为Tony Robbins、HarvEker、RobertKiyosaki等作过同声翻译。 受益于英国私校教育 Susan 出身于外交官家庭，4岁时随父母来到纽约，英文说得比中文还溜。有一年回台湾，与旧友相聚，一位朋友开玩笑说：“Susan，你现在真是洋化了，说中文都带着外国腔了。”这么一句话，却深深刺激了她，发誓一定要学好中文。现在的Susan,普通话说得非常字正腔圆，完全听不出台湾口音，标准得象是中文广播的播音员。从这件小事，可以看出Susan的个性。 小时候，公务繁忙的父母对她与妺妺采取的是放养政策，只给予方向性指导与建议，具体事务让她们自己摸索。比如，7岁时，她就要独自一人搭1小时的车程上下学，这让Susan养成了非常独立、自主的个性。13岁时，她来到英国求学，进入了一所公立学校，看到身边很多朋友、同学都在备考英国的私校。当时的她，对私校没有太多概念，觉得好玩，也跟着去考。没想到，准备充足的同学们纷纷落榜，无心插柳的她却考进了英国排名前三的北伦敦女子中学（NLCS）。 进了私校之后，Susan真切地感受到了英国精英教育的优越性，不但大大拓宽了自己的眼界，而且私校的老师们更懂得关注每个学生的特性，似乎在不经意中，就培养与发展了学生的多方面的技能。受此熏陶，Susan毕业后轻松考入了世人瞩目的剑桥大学。 Susan的求学之路，也给妺妺与自己的女儿们树立了一个榜样的作用，稍后，她的妺妺也考入北伦敦女子中学。今年，她的大女儿以前三名的成绩考入同一学校，还拿到了奖学金。 一切都与沟通有关 Susan大学时不顾父母的反对，执意选择了建筑设计专业。她说，建筑专业涉猎极广，将理工与人文学科很好地结合于一起，既要有数学、科学基础，又要懂美学、社会学、心理学，甚至于人体构造学，满足了她多样化的求知欲求。但是，上世纪90年代中旬她回台湾实习的时候，有两件事改变了她的初衷。 一是当时Susan实习的公司接了一个案子，为台湾当地的一位富豪设计、建造私宅，主管的设计师是一位哈佛毕业的高才生，Susan希望在他的带领下将所学的美学、建筑理念完美传达在建筑的每一个细节中。但是，有一天这位富豪来到施工现场，态度傲慢地说: “我要在这里放一个纯黄金打造的马桶”。Susan希望主管设计能够据理力争，告知这个土豪，一个黄金马桶会破坏整体设计。但主管设计却只是点头认可。他告诉Susan不要太书生意气，客户是上帝，应该以客户的意愿为重。 另外， 当地的一个风俗，让Susan体会到当时的女性在台湾建筑界生存的不易。每当一座房子建成之后，都有一个“上梁”的典礼，在这个以男性为绝对主导的典礼上，男人们喝酒、划拳、唱歌，甚至当场跳起脱衣舞……. 这些，都让年轻的Susan感觉非常不适应，开始重新考虑自己的职业规划。喜欢与人交往、沟通的Susan还进入了传媒领域，工作于台北顶级的商业杂志BusinessTechnology( 隶属于Common Wealth Publishing Group)，历任记者、副总编, 采访过雅虎的杨致远（Jerry Yang）、EBAY的梅格·惠特曼（ Meg Whitman ）, 惠普的卡莉·费奥瑞纳( Carly Fiorina ), 彭博的麦克尔·彭博（Michael Bloombergof Bloomberg）等名家。 2002年，Susan开始与另一个合伙人一起创办APUK （Academic Powerhouse），该机构由津桥管理顾问（OxBridgeHoldings）部分控股，Susan利用自己的专业知识进行教育实践，缩小东方和西方之间的教育差距。该机构运用世界领先的教育理念，提供对英国、中国和远东教育的独立、专业咨询意见。10多年来，业务快速增长，在北京、上海、台北等地均设有分支机构，每年帮助超过4000多名的来自中国及远东的学生成功登陆英伦，接受各个层次的教育。 在伦敦，Susan是教育行业的一位受人尊敬的思想领袖，经常被邀请对中英教育的趋势和问题进行评论。她也是英国的许多私立学校和大学领导的顾问，帮助一些英国的知名学校在远东进行国际学生招生和营销活动。 Susan说，表现上看来，她的职业跳跃度挺大的，但万变不离其宗，她从事过的所有工作都与沟通有关：当建筑设计师需要与客户沟通，当记者需要与采访对象沟通，当教育咨询专家需要与学生与家长沟通，当翻译更是离不开沟通……所以，她一直从事的是自己喜爱与擅长的沟通工作。 “学以致用”的误区 Susan说，中国的学生们，对“学以致用”有普遍性的错误理解，不考虑自己的特长与兴趣，以“有用”为导向去选择自己的专业方向，功用心过强，效果却适得其反。 比如，好多学生把进把投行、大型金融机构当成自己的人生第一目标，所以都一窝蜂去读财经专业。实际上，如果仔细分析投行、大型金融机构现任职员的专业背景，您可以发现里面有很多学拉丁、希腊语等偏门的毕业生，由于他们拥有牛津、剑桥等著名院校的毕业证书，以综合素质取胜。 Susan说，学生应该确定目标，随时准备好自己，因为你不知道人生的机遇何时会来敲门。她讲了一件自己亲身经历的事： 她说，由于喜欢语言与沟通，因为好玩，也为了证明自己的能力，多年前她考了一个同声传译的资格证。有一次，她带着团队去台北参加一个教育咨询会，在布展的闲暇时候，看到隔壁的展厅正在开一场国际研讨会，就站了听了一会，发现当时担任英文翻译的一位先生翻译得不错，就趁着休息时间跟他聊了一会，互留了电话。 没想到当晚，Susan收到了这位先生的电话，问她愿不愿意接受一个给安东尼·罗宾（TonyRobbins）作同声翻译的工作机会。(注：安东尼·罗宾是一位白手起家、事业成功的亿万富翁，是当今最成功的世界级潜能开发专家。曾为美国前总统克林顿、戴安娜王妃、南非总统曼徳拉、前苏联总统戈尔巴乔夫、世界网球冠军安德烈·阿加西等提供咨询)。 地点在悉尼，需要一周的时间，由于安东尼的那次讲座是回馈性质的免费课程，所以组委会只给工作人员安排机票、食宿，却没有工资。 收到电话之后，Susan […]
